Charitable events around the globe seem to happen almost daily. With so many charities and non profit groups around, they sometimes find that having various types of fund raising events can be a good way to raise funds. Those events can often be centered on some sort of high profile appearance by someone like a celebrity or sports star. These events not only will ask these higher profile individuals to come, but to also pay them for showing up. In paying them a large sum of money to attend, they hope that their presence will draw other higher wealth individuals there to give money. Now not all stars get paid to attend events, many times they will appear for free, especially if they are a large part of that organization.

Charitable events can range from cruises, marathons, dinners, auctions and so on. The more creative the event, the more likely it may be that people are drawn to it. It can be nice for organizations to fund these with as little of their own money as possible. The more people donate to putting on the event, the more the proceeds from it go to benefit that group.

Looking throughout the world it is pretty obvious to see that there are so many different ways in which we can give. People need help, from food, to shelter or medical attention, but what about animals. There are so many animals in need all over this country. Organizations like the SPCA or the Humane Society try and do what they can if they are in a particular area when it comes to helping animals. The burden on these organizations can be quite extreme. Having to house and care for so many animals can be very expensive. They rely very heavily on funds and volunteers when it comes to making their large operations work. Sometimes the load and work can be overwhelming. Like the floods in New Orleans, many animals were left behind, so organizations such as these went in to try and rescue them. Such a huge influx of money needed and animals to care for can really burden facilities such as these.

So if you love animals, certainly this may be an area that you can try to help. You could go online or check locally to see what places around you help. There also may be several ways in which you can help, so if funds are low, there may just be another way for you to assist them.

It seems that the world has really been shaken up around us. Earthquake after earthquake has sent two down. Chile and Haiti have had severe blows done to their land. These earthquakes were huge. The one in Haiti has killed thousands. The other in Chile literally shook the earth off its axis.

At a time like this, especially in poorer parts of these regions, these people rely on the help of outsiders for the very basics like food and water. Giving during a time like this can be tricky. First, try and make sure that you are giving to a well known charity that will use the money as they say they will. Be careful text messaging money to places you are unsure about. The last thing you will want to do is make someone rich off of your donations to people that aren’t in big need for it.

If you want to give but feel you do not have the funds to do so, consider possibly giving up certain things that may help you to give here and there, like going out to eat. Remember there are thousands of people that usually need help after tragedies such as these.

It can just pay to give back. We sometimes end up in positions that we have to receive help from others. When you go through those tough times it can be really hard to get out of your head. Yet at the same time it can be a very rewarding experience. It can drive us to make some really wonderful changes in our lives. The changes can propel us to want to give to those who are in true need. It can also help us to want to manage our money better.

It can also have the effect of turning us into really generous givers. And when we see someone or an organization needing help that had helped us in the past you just want to give back. Giving back can also mean giving to just about anyone in need whether they had assisted you or not. Giving to others whether or not you have been helped in the past can be a great way to give back to your community or fellow countrymen who are in need of assistance. There are so many ways to give and so many types of giving programs out there for those that want to help.

There are tons of ways that we give to our local and national governing bodies. For one, we in the US pay income taxes. There are various categories for these, but most of us in the US pay taxes in some form or fashion. Next, in some states you end up having state taxes. So when you are filing your federal taxes, right along with it at the end of the year you end up filing for your state taxes as well. You can be taxed on the things you won depending on how much those things are worth. These are the primary ways that the government in one way or another ends up getting money given to them to run the country as they see fit.

You can also give to the government voluntarily. You can donate to the party of your choice to help them to campaign for the people that they want and you want to see in office. Presidential campaigns are largely run on donations from the people in the country. Of course there are huge private donors that seek to protect their interests further by giving. So here are just a few ways that we end up giving, voluntarily or not, to the government.

Most of us in the country literally have no clue what it feels like to go hungry for long periods of time. No we are not talking about missing lunch or going on a diet for some time, we mean true hunger. There are millions of people out there that sometimes have no clue where their next meal is coming from. Can you imagine that? For most we can simply head a few miles to the store, get just what we want with little or no thought to it at all. Many families do not have this luxury. No, it is not because they are on a tight budget. For many they could be elderly, out of work, or have medical problems eating up their funds. Whatever the reasons are, there are groups of people in the world that love to give until it hurts some. They try to be more sacrificial when it comes to giving.

What kind of giver are you? Whatever kind of giver you are or are not, if you need a place to give to help feed the truly hungry, locally can always be a great place to start. Surely there are people living near you that need help.

No, we are not talking about your spouse being a charity case in this instance. We are talking about stepping back and looking at the one you decided long ago to spend the rest of your life with. At times life can become redundant, we do the same things over and over. But imagine taking time as often as you feel to give more love to your spouse. This love can be a special dinner out or maybe just an ‘I love you’ note left in the bathroom for them to find when they get ready for work. Giving in a marriage can come in all shapes and sizes, from the huge surprise vacation to a small note in a lunch sack. Just imagine if your loved one did things like this for you. Now you will know what something like this could mean to them. So just remember, it does not take a ton of money to give back to a relationship. It does not always have to be about the big dollar surprises. It seems like the key here may be to spread it out and keep it consistent as well as varied. You may just make someone’s day.

What in the world do we mean by giving talent? Well for some folks out there they can be really talented at doing something, whether they are a great cook, musician, business man or doctor. For example a doctor may be able to volunteer their time to help those in need of medical care or overseas and do it for free. Or maybe a really good musician could travel to a foreign country to motivate and cheer on our troops, putting on a free performance or two for them.

So what are your talents? Your talents may not be so obvious, but many organizations have positions available to just about anyone. What if you are a person that just really loves to help and works hard? Then maybe you can answer phones, clean or do grunt work for a non-profit place. Giving does not always have to be about the money, it can be about so much more. So look around, is there anyone out there that could really use your help that is in true need. You can really be a blessing to people by just volunteering and helping out where you are needed.

Sometimes giving can be something we do monthly without much thought. Say you always give to an organization or the same amount of money each month at the same time, and give little thought to giving elsewhere. This can be a great way to be a consistent giver. But what happens when you hear of such tragedies like the recent earthquake that hit Haiti in January of 2010. Are you able financially to help? Sometimes when we give monthly like what was mentioned above, we tend to not have any extra money to help those that are in need when such an event occurs.

One way to overcome this is to have some fund set aside for giving to those in need when a huge tragedy hits a place. It could be a hurricane devastating an area, or simply that your fellow neighbors and townspeople are struggling with food and money when many lose their jobs.

These types of troubles happen almost daily in the world around us. So you see, even as a giver you can be prepared to help if such a terrible event were to occur again. Sometimes it pains us that we cannot do more. One way that we can is to have funds set aside just in case of a huge emergency.

So how do you share giving? Let’s say that you’re one of those people that just love to give and help others in some way. You truly find great joy in seeing the needs of others met almost as much as you do your own needs being met. So how can you share that joy with others? Well, if you love to volunteer as an example, then you may want to consider having people you wish to share this joy with join you. Certainly you do not have to pressure them, you can simply ask them to help you out once or so and see if it ends up something they might wish to partake in more often. You will more than likely know right away whether or not they will be coming back to help or not.

You can also gather up friends and family from your area and have some sort of a giving drive. Or maybe you end up having a large garage sale from the donations of all the people you know and the proceeds can go to benefit a non-profit agency.

So keep these ideas in mind the next time you feel you would like to have the people you know and love share in the joy of giving with you.

Now that the holidays are nearly over, charities will need to look into the next year to see how they will be able to continue operations now that the holiday rush of giving is over. Many charities see an increase of giving during the holidays. It may be because people feel more inclined to help others. Some do not and claim that people tend to give less when they are spending so much more on gifts and such. Either way, charities still need help year round. More than likely for most the help that they provide is done year round.

Organizations that help others year round can feel the pinch at various times of the year. They must prepare for these times and learn how to handle the ups and downs that come with charitable giving. What can you do? Well, what you do totally depends on how you decide to give. Some people give once a year, others may decide to give monthly to various causes, some give when they feel they can and do not have a set time. So keep all of this in mind when you decide on how and when you will give. These organizations usually are counting on giving people like you.

So what happens when people come door to door looking for money claiming to be with a non profit of some sort? Some organizations do still do this. There are many that have stopped this sort of collecting also. The reason is that people can sometimes go around falsely claiming to be with an organization and stealing money. This has happened quite a bit.

So what are you to do? Well one thing to consider is calling the organization while the collector is there and verifying that they work for the agency. You can also just choose to mail in the money yourself or go online and give.

You can even go as far as visiting the facility yourself and giving that way if they are local. The best way to handle this is to be informed. No matter how much documentation they have with them, you may want to consider looking into the situation just to be sure that your hard earned money goes to whom you intended it to go. If your heart is to give then you may need to make sure the people taking the money have their heart in the same place. You just never know so be careful.

Have you ever been to the mall or have you been another store and been able to see an angel tree. The organization sets up trees in various locations, puts paper angels on the tree with a child’s age and sex and what they would want for Christmas. Typically they want a gift or two and usually they are gifts that are not that expensive. The gifts can be needs or wants; it is really up to the child. The fun thing for the giver is to try really and help someone in need. These kids live year after year barely having their needs met, so a gift at Christmas is a huge deal.

This can be a really fun way to get your friends, co-workers or family involved as well. Some employers have their own trees set up for their employees to shop for and pick from. If you would like to participate but are unsure how to, head online and look up the organization there.

If you love to shop for others, this can be a great way to have fun with what you normally love to do and at the same time help someone in need. These kids do not ask for much, so anything that they can get will more than likely be welcomed.

There are always two sides to this issue. Do you think you should or shouldn’t just go up to homeless people and offer them food, clothing or money? Well first it must be said that this decision is totally up to you. There is not a right or wrong being published in this blog, rather just two sides on an issue. It should also be said that there could be laws against providing certain kinds of help to the homeless; you may want to check these out before you do anything if you plan on it.

First people will say that offering help freely will not help them to get off the streets. By giving them what they want and leaving them were they are at, they say that this is helping nobody. It has been also said that giving them money may be even worse because they may not be spending it on needs but rather wants like alcohol or such.

Others say that helping to feed and cloth homeless people in need should be done though. They feel it is not their place to judge them but rather help them.

One way to help if you want could be to check out organizations that help the homeless. They will more than likely be in accordance with the law and other restrictions. Either way, the choice is yours.

Lots of people, especially during the economic downturn the country has faced, may have had to turn to or have had family/friends turn to them for help. People have been losing their jobs left and right. Younger married couples are even moving back in with parents to help them stay out of debt or to help them recover from very tough times. People now find themselves in a situation to give to family or friends. Certainly one would want to give so close to home, yet in another sense for people it can be tough to get into this type of situation with paybacks, etc.

One rule of thumb some of us out there have heard is that when you give to family or friends never expect anything back. That way if their fortunes do not turn around any time soon you will not have to worry and neither will they in a sense.

Giving to closer relations can be great. You may want to be careful as to how you approach so that neither side will end up hurt if something were to happen though. The less you may expect the less uncomfortable things may become.

No matter who is in need or suffering out there, it can be very important that no matter whom they are that they get help. So why are there a lot of child based charities? For one there are lots of charities of various kinds in the world. They may focus on a specific disease or people group. But with children, it can often be tough for a child to understand why they are in need. Adults usually know why things are happening around them and to them. But for children, for example, they may not understand why they get nothing for Christmas. Or maybe they just do not understand why they have to be hungry all the time.

Being so young they just may not understand everything there is to know. Situations like being homeless or hungry can then be especially difficult on them. Thankfully, in steps some really good charities, like Children’s Hunger Fund. One of the reasons a charity such as this or ones like it can be good is that they may focus on children but never turn down anyone who is hungry in the areas they serve.

So the next time you see a child based organization, you may now understand a little bit more as to why they exist.

Certainly any positive publicity that a charity can get can be a good thing. When a celebrity or Hollywood star endorses one, then that can be a really huge benefit to that organization. People seem to really attach themselves to what goes on in the sports and/or entertainment world. They like to follow their favorite celebrity’s lives and see how they live while they are not on TV.

Certain celebrities really like to publicize their work with certain charities. This publicity can be a really good thing as that organization tries everything possible to raise money.

Some charities even attach themselves to these big time players. For example, the United Way has the support of the NFL. You have probably seen some of the commercials on TV if you’re an NFL fan. An auction style fundraiser can be a really great way for the organization to raise some quick cash. The more publicity it gets, the more money they will make. You have probably even seen these types of auctions on EBay as well. So try and remember the needy this holiday season and give.

There are so many charities in the United States and throughout the world. These organizations usually rely on the donations of the people to fund their operations. So what happens when someone steals from a charity though? Locally and recently someone stole $5000 worth of building equipment from a Habitat for Humanity building trailer as they tried to finish a home for a needy lady by Christmas time. These volunteers and the future homeowner have put in a ton of time and effort to try and finish by the end of the year. Now it appears unless donations come in quickly to replace the stolen goods, they will have to wait. The equipment had originally taken years to get.

Also last year in the news someone had stolen all the Christmas gifts for an Angel Tree operation out of their store rooms. This left tons of kids in jeopardy of not getting anything at all for Christmas.

These are the battles that these charitable organizations deal with sometimes. It is sad but true that people just tend to not care about the needs of others and would rather take from them instead. So don’t lose hope when these things happen, there are still those out there that will persevere and help to meet these lost items

How many of us out there have had to go to a food bank and get food. In one sense it can be tough because your needs are so dire you have to go. And in another sense it can be great! What an amazing place to be able to get some food when you and your family need help. Local food banks can truly help lots of people during the holiday season get food when they need it most.

Lots of communities big and small may have one. Some communities may even have more than that depending on the size. In some areas churches will have their own food bank, along side maybe one run by the state or county you are in.

These can be great places to give during the holidays. They can usually use food, volunteers and some cash to help pay for various expenses.

This can be a great place to give some Thanksgiving cheer to those that are truly in need. So whether or not you have been down and out, it may be safe to say that your local food bank can be a great place to give and help others this Holiday season.

Who among us does not like to get a gift or two during a birthday or the holidays? Most of us certainly have little to no problem accepting gifts. There are some people during the holidays that decide that they do not want to get any gifts though. Also they do not want to give gifts either. The only giving they want to do is to help those who are in need.

Why not do something like that. I mean a lot of people really have trouble finding things that they really want anyway. In their eyes they either have it all or truly they don’t want anything else unless it is a real need. In their eyes it seems enough is enough. Besides, how many of us hate getting gifts that really were given with little to no thought. I mean what a waste of money in one sense. If you’re going to give a gift, how about setting some spending limits and really putting some thought into what you want to give.

So what kind of giver or receiver are you? We are all certainly different. But many of us have finally said no more to wasteful spending on thoughtless gifts for the holidays.

So how much do you plan on giving this year for the holidays in the form of gifts for others? For some people this may be a really tough question. They usually have no idea how much they plan on giving until all the receipts are tallied up. Sometimes we tend to think because we can charge something we can give as much as we want and not have a limit.

Limits on giving can be a great thing to institute. Lots of times it is not about the money spent on the gift that makes it nice, but the amount of thought that can go into a gift. Of course nice gifts like a big TV for your husband will probably be loved, but if you don’t have that kind of money for gifts this year, consider setting a max dollar amount to be spent.

Then write down people you plan on giving to and set a limit for all the people not going over to the total limit. Keep in mind also that if you shop online you may still end up paying taxes and shipping fees so be careful there. These extra costs can really add up.

It seems according to polls this year that only 38% of Americans plan on giving to a charitable institution this holiday season. It could be that with the economic downturn this year people don’t have the money to give. The number polled last year was 49% saying that they would give to charity. These organizations are expecting a much leaner year than they did last year according to this news post.

Whether people want to give, or can and don’t is not really the point of this article. The point is to show that there are organizations out there helping others that need help during the holidays.

There also may be other ways you can give instead of using cash. Some people have considered giving all the money they earn from a garage sale. You may be surprised at how much money could be raised in a small garage sale and what that small amount could do for someone in need.

Also people can consider giving time. Volunteers can be a vital part of the help that some organizations get. Lots of these places run off of volunteer help by staffing very few people. So if you can, consider giving in some way this season. If you can’t, maybe once things turn around you can give then.

Well this will be off the subject from what we normally discuss here, but with the holiday season fast approaching, now seems like a good time. The holiday and Christmas can truly be a joyful time of the year. It can also be a wonderful time to receive and give gifts. Giving gifts for some people is just as much fun as receiving them. They love to work so hard at getting just the right gift for just the right person. They also love to watch the faces of everyone who opens a gift they truly wanted. Their faces and reactions can be priceless.

But what if you get a gift that is truly awful? How do you react? What do you say? Can you return it? Or would the person you got it from eventually find out you did return it? There are so many different scenarios, so the best thing to consider doing is to be prepared.

It is up to you what you should or should not say. Sometimes it may be best to just let things be and move on -or maybe you just need to be honest, depending on the person. No matter what, remember that the person might have put a ton of time in on trying to get you the right gift. So be happy and joyful, and thankful for what you get.

For some people this holiday season, funds can be on very short supply. Some of us have cut our budgets down to a bare minimum. We are barely making enough money to cover the bills and are fighting to just keep a roof over our heads. No matter what, everyone has their own battle to deal with. But just because you cannot give financially does not mean you have to give up giving. There are plenty of organizations out there that can use your help. If you have the time and a way to meet up with fellow volunteers, then if you search hard enough there could be an organization close by that could use a volunteer almost as much as they need the financial gifts.

These organizations for example, may use you to distribute food, help fix up some local persons old home or man the phones within the organization. Volunteering can be a really important way that someone can give. Giving does not always have to be about giving money. Sure, lots of these places need the cash, but some also may need your time and your help. So if you’re interested, make some calls and see if you can find a place to help.

How many of us out there have worked for companies that give some sort of holiday gift to their employees. Whether it is a fruit basket, a flashlight with the company logo on it, or a small bonus check, the gifts can truly be appreciated. Businesses can also feel that it is appropriate to give their key customers gifts during this time of the year. A small token of appreciation can go along way in just showing a customer that you appreciate their business.

Whether it is for customers or employees, sometimes during the year there may be little contact with the heads of the organization. The holidays can be a great time to rekindle that relationship some and say thanks for the business or thanks for working hard all year long.

Businesses who give need to be really careful not to be too cheap. Of course we have all gotten gifts and wondered why in the world they would give something like this out. Many of us have seen gifts like a winter vest given for example, never seeing anyone actually wear it. So be careful how you choose your gifts, maybe get a small group together to discuss ideas and pick what the group feels is best to give.

So what is group giving? Well it all depends on who and what kind you’re talking about. Group giving basically means that you are a part of a small group of people that do some sort of charity type work.

Group giving can be great for some many reasons. For one it can certainly be a motivating factor to have others involved in the same project. You can motivate each other to work harder and give more of yourselves. Groups can also be a great way to enhance the creativity of everyone. By having the group brainstorm together, ideas may come easier as well as solutions to problems.

Groups also can help to motivate others to give or do something similar by creating groups off of the original. One group for example could help bring food to the needy, the others could go around seeking donations, or the other could go around helping others do tasks like fixing up homes etc.

So have fun giving this holiday season. Whether you are in a group or not, lots of people out there need your help.

Local food banks can be a great way for the community to come together and feed those around them that are in need of food. Many people in this country have trouble putting even one good meal on the table daily. Here is a story of a local food bank that after several years was put out on the streets. Why? The church they operated out of was not licensed to distribute food.

Whether you feel that it was right or wrong, the key point here is to make sure as a local community we try and come together to help those in need. This particular facility gave away free bread to those in need.

As the article states, some people rely on that bread weekly to help provide them with enough food to live on. These people that donate and work these facilities truly seem to love giving from their heart.

What can you do? Well that really is up to you. If you do want to help, seeks out a place locally like a church or non profit that takes food donations. A good thing to consider is to ask them what their main needs usually are. Then it is up to you how often and how much you want to give.

Lots of people love the Holidays. For some they just love the time of year when fall arrives, the hot summer months are gone, there’s a chill in the air. You know, things just seem to change. People also love giving gifts. It can be truly amazing how much money people spend on gifts for other people annually. Some gifts may meet the needs of that person; other gifts may just be for fun.

There are also those out there that choose to give very few gifts during this time of year, if any. These are the people that love to give to the needy instead of the people they know. It can certainly make sense. Lots of us out there can look around us and say there is little to anything that I truly need. Yet there are so many people from children to the elderly that need so much.

What an amazing time of year for people to give to someone that truly does have many needs. Giving some food, some clothing and some basic household needs to those that really need things can be like winning the lottery to them. So have fun this Holiday season, try if you can to remember those that are less fortunate.

The Holidays are coming up and lots of charitable institutions rely heavily on the holiday season for donations. You may more than likely see lots of advertising, signs out, organization reps and so on out during the holidays. And there is certainly nothing wrong with that. The point to being careful is that there are also lots of people out there that like to take advantage of people’s giving spirit by ripping them off.

Here are some things that you can consider looking out for:

First, see if they are a real non profit. They will be a 501-3C registered place. Now just because they may not have that does not make them legit. It is just a starting point to consider.

Next see if they have a number to phone a representative, check for them in the local yellow pages or see if they have an established facility.

You then can also if you want, ask them for their financial information. See how they spend the money donated. Are their people making millions at the top of these non profit places, etc?

This is just a starter list of possibilities. Do your due diligence and you should be OK. Have a happy and giving holiday season!

Kids usually love to give to others. Given the chance and some encouragement and help from their parents, they can actually be quite the work horses when it comes to giving to others.

Here are some tips or suggestions that may help you brainstorm on how you can get your kids more involved.

Garage sales are always a good place to start. You can first advertise that your garage sale will donate 100% of the proceeds. Next, as a family try to go through the house and give stuff up! This may teach your children that they have plenty compared to those in need -and so do you.

Also, Ebaying for charity is great. Sell your more valuable pieces online. State in the auction where the money is going if you like, either way this may help bring more money in for the higher priced items.

With parental supervision, it could be nice if they went around door to door collecting canned foods and other items for the needy. Also putting a sign up that you are taking things for charity like clothes and food might be possible. You never know, your neighborhood may really get involved. Either way, the key here is to have fun doing it and teach your kids the lessons you feel they need to learn.

For many of us, the holidays can be a wonderful time to relax, have some vacation and spend time with family and friends. For others, the holidays can be a hard struggle.

There are many needy people out there that have very little food, clothing and inadequate shelter. The holidays usually mean really cold weather. For them it could mean having trouble even staying warm through the winter.

Annually the average amount people spend on gifts for others goes up. What about the giving? The holidays are a great time to remind ourselves just how thankful we are that we do not struggle meeting the basic needs to live.

This holiday season consider doing some different things when it comes to how much you give. For one, maybe cutting your gift budget dramatically down could be huge. Imagine taking half of what you normally spend and giving it to others, just so they can meet some basic needs.

You don’t need me to think of these things for you. Get with your family and friends and go in this together. Come up with some ideas on your own. I will say from experience, you will have much more fun on the holidays doing it this way!

I found this very interesting article on salaries within some non profit organizations. Many times when people give they do not consider a charity’s salaries or admin expenses as an issue. These are some things one can consider when looking for a place to give.

This article mentions the United Way; their new leader will make $150,000 a year. Although to me that’s a really high salary, considering that the leader before this one made millions, it is nice to see the United Way take this more seriously.

There are some free organizations out there that can help you find what salaries non profits give to their leaders. This is great for those that want to make sure that the money they give goes into the hands of the needy and not the big pocketbooks of the leaders.

Sure, these leaders need to get paid. I do and so do you. But the key here is how much, and ultimately that’s up to you. The best way to find out any information on a given charity is to simply call them. Kindly request information to be mailed or emailed to you. This is public information, so they should freely share it with you. So be careful out there and keep on giving…

There is nothing that can be more powerful within a community than the people living in it helping out those in need. We do not need to go over all the ways you can help locally, but a few are cleaning others homes, mowing yards, fixing up houses, donating food, giving money to local organizations and so on.

What is even more powerful would be when several people get together to help. Getting organized within a group of individuals all with the goal of helping those in need is a big deal.

Imagine going to a home in need of repair and with 10 or more people cleaning up the yard, painting the house and mending some rotting wood on the home. Within literally just one day the work could be finished!

Doing this half the weekends out of the year, a big commitment would see that over 20 homes in your area for example would be fixed up.er

WOW. So try and get in with a group of people wanting to do some good for others. Imagine the difference a team of people can make. Once your team is established also, you can recruit more teams to do similar projects. Before you know it, there will be enough help to go around for the entire community.

I really dislike hearing people say they never really find a good opportunity to give. For the most part, the truth is usually that people want to spend on themselves more rather than to give.

Funny, I’ve found there are several options available; I just needed to open my eyes. For example, I went to my local grocery store to buy the weeks groceries. At the checkout there were some slips of paper, placed right in front of my face, supporting the local food bank. They were slips you could pull off in denominations of 1$, 3$ and 5$. WOW, how convenient, and look at that- it is right in front of my face, I can’t miss it. Also, as I drive to the store, I pass right by a Meals On Wheels facility. I could easily drive in and drop off food. Getting gas another day I noticed they had a collection for another local charity.

So keep this in mind the next time you feel you do not have the opportunity to give. They are all around you! And another ting, people eat year round. Let’s not only remember the needy and poor during the holiday season, but let’s stay involved and help year round.

I ran across an article searching for posts on ways that people give. We have done a post before on creative giving and I wanted to do another. I really want people to see ways that you can give, and then encourage them to get out there. First read this short article.

You will have found that these women are trying to help the poor by getting them female hygiene products. That’s right! Most people may look at this and laugh, or just shrug their shoulders and move on. To me it is genius. Because instead of sitting around on the sidelines talking about issues in society and never doing anything about them, these two girls jumped in there and have taken a passion for giving and have come up with a great way to help.

So why does this help? It will be hard to imagine for some, but say you’re poor and barely have money for food. Can you imagine not having money for hygiene products? Things like what these girls are collecting along with toothpaste, laundry soap, shampoo, etc. can get very costly. If it were me, I would brush my teeth with something I had around the home and buy food with the money before buying toothpaste.

So kudos to these girls for getting off the sidelines and into the game!

When you’re married, you have to understand that doing things as a couple are very important. If you’re divided on a subject, this can cause lots of conflict. The same goes for giving as well.

Let’s say the wife loves to give and the husband like to give, but has other plans for the money. The two are obviously not opposed to giving; they just have different levels they want to give at. The best thing to do here is to agree on a monetary value that the couple can agree on to give monthly. Then, the wife could always give by volunteering, baking extra or making food for the needy. There are tons of ways to give that will not divide a marriage.

The worst case would be that one person loves to give and the other does not. To be honest with you, these things should be worked out prior to marriage. Not all issues can be settled, but a giver loves to give, there is usually no stopping them.

The best thing to do is calmly talk this through and support one another. Nobody asks you to be the same as the other, yet two have become one, so share in the joy of giving together.

In most areas most of us know more than likely places that we can give to those in need. The needy are all around us, and with the looming recession upon us, there is even a greater need to help those around us. Giving does not always have to be about giving money. There are other creative ways you can give on top of the other ways you currently give.

Have you ever baked a ton of goodies for the holidays? You know in one sense it can be a lot of work, but on the other hand, it is not that hard to bake the same items 2 or 3 times as opposed to once. Next time you bake, consider baking extra for some families in need. What a great way to give extra when you can. Even if you have a baking day at least once a month, what a treat it would be to some needy families to have some fresh baked goods every month.

At the same time you can throw in to the package some toothpaste, toiletries, or other items that may strike you as needs the family could use. So be creative, have fun, and most of all want to help those in need.

Such a simple word this is, Give. What does that mean to you? For most people it means different things. People tend to give their time to help others, people give money, others give physical donation, some give emotional support, some even give nothing but to themselves. Have you ever thought much about where or how you give? Have you ever looked into the life of someone who gives constantly? Many of us seem to be trapped into spending most of our time listening to people tell us we need to get more out of life for ourselves instead of giving up parts of our lives to help others.

When you look into the mirror what do you see? Some people see themselves and only themselves. Others see themselves in such a way that it drives them to consider themselves blessed to be able to help others in any way possible.

I hear a lot on TV that people -for example, gain a ton of weight because they claim they never do anything for themselves. I know for me, when I gained weight I was doing the opposite, I only thought of myself, I thought- I want this food and I am going to eat it.

Look around you, what are you doing, how are you feeling, do you GIVE?

So you say you love to give but you’re low on funds. Never fear, there are more ways to give than just money. Read this article here, for a really solid example of what people can do once they get together to try and do something for a cause.

Volunteering can be an amazing way to give. There are so many worth while causes out there for people to participate in. You can volunteer to serve food at a soup kitchen, read for the elderly at a nursing home, or like the article do something for your community and the people in it. The feeling you get when helping others is priceless. Most of all it is not about the feeling you get that is key though, it is about doing something for others and expecting nothing in return.

Never let the money issues keep you from helping others. It doesn’t have to be a cash donation every time that helps a cause. In some cases giving time to an organization can be just as beneficial. The people that also need help will be so thankful that there are able bodied people out there that do care for them.
